AENEAS is launching a call for experts interested to join the Xecs Quantum Call evaluation group. These experts will be tasked with acting as evaluators for the R&D project proposals (Project Outline and Full Project Proposal) submitted under the Call for quantum technologies launched in the Eureka Cluster Xecs framework.
They might also be invited to act later as reviewers or mentors during the monitoring phase of projects which will have been selected for funding.
To ensure that we have all the in-depth knowledge required to carry out this evaluation mission, we are seeking expertise across all domains covered by the Xecs Quantum Call, with a special emphasis on the following topics:
• Quantum sensing: precision measurement, medical diagnostics, imaging, high-precision navigation, geological surveys, deep space applications, miniaturisation and industrial-scale manufacturing of quantum sensors;
• Quantum metrology: validation, certification and standardisation of emerging quantum products and technologies across sensing, communication and computing;
• Quantum communications and cyber security: performance (bit rates, fidelities, link distances), integration with conventional network infrastructures, and industrialisation of quantum communication technologies;
• Enabling Electronic Components and Systems for quantum computing: low-noise electronic circuitry for initialising, calibrating, controlling, reading out and amplifying signals from qubits (photonic integrated circuits, superconductors, semiconductors, trapped ions, neutral atoms, NV centres in diamonds), including both cryogenic and room-temperature solutions, as well as integrated photonics technologies such as single-photon detectors.
Working conditions
Evaluations will be carried out remotely, followed by online consensus meetings between experts. The role is offered on a voluntary basis (no remuneration). Selected experts will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to accessing any proposal. Evaluators will not evaluate a project proposal in which their organisation is a partner.
In return for their involvement, experts get the opportunity to:
• Strengthen the knowledge of the ecosystem
• Become aware of the trends and priorities
• Enlarge their network by joining a vibrant community of very engaged experts in the field
• Understand the inner workings of funding programmes.
Evaluation schedule
Selected experts will be mobilised in two successive evaluation rounds aligned with the Xecs Quantum Call milestones:
• A first evaluation round following the Project Outline (PO) submission deadline of 26th November 2026. Online evaluations will have to be finalised by 15th December followed by an online meeting on 17th December in the morning.
• A second evaluation round following the Full Project Proposal (FPP) submission deadline of 5th March 2027. Online evaluations will have to be finalised by 30th March 2027, followed by an online meeting on 1st April
Selection process
The proposer is requested to fill in the application form and submit it to Vincent Le Meau at lemeau@aeneas-office.org no later than 30th October 2026.
We look forward to receiving your applications!
